(Cleveland) On Friday afternoon, two people were rescued in Lake Erie by the Coast Guard after their boat capsized. It happened at around 3:00pm about 300 yards offshore from Lakewood. The Cleveland Coast Guard was notified that a 16-foot sailboat was half-way submerged.
The two people were only able to grab one life jacket before the boat capsized, so they shared it until rescuers arrive. The Coast Guard rescued the boaters and took them to Edgewater Marina to be evaluated by emergency medical services.
No reports of any serious injuries. The names of the boaters have not been released.
The sailboat remains capsized in the water.
