(Eri County) - ODOT closed a stretch of State Route 2, between State Route 61 and State Route 60, due to a suspicious item Tuesday afternoon.

The Ohio Department of Transportation said it found what appears to be a pipe bomb in the grass.

The Lorain County Bomb Squad was called to the scene after the device was found around 11:22 AM.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the device turned out to not be a pipe bomb. Investigators said it was a 1-foot long PVC pipe with glued end caps and a wire hanging out. It's being sent out for analysis.

The highway was re-opened by directions by 2:00 p.m.
