(Akron)-An Akron teenager is facing a long road to recovery after losing his leg in a motorcycle crash.

Police say 13-year-old Shawn Brumbaugh was riding his bike across South Arlington Street this past weekend when a speeding biker slammed into him.

Akron Police Lieutenant Rick Edwards says a quick-thinking officer turned his belt into a tourniquet when he found Brumbaugh's badly-injured leg.

Akron police say the motorcycle rider, 29-year-old Eric Reppl of Cuyahoga Falls, was killed in the crash. Brumbaugh's family says he has undergone one surgery, with more ahead, at Akron Children's Hospital.
