(Elyria) – Police were called out to a report of gunfire at a school in Elyria this week, but it turned out to be a major false alarm.

Elyria police were called out to Open Door Christian School after getting a call that someone had shot at a staff member's office. The Chronicle-Telegram reports police turned out in full force and put the school on lockdown.

The lockdown ended when police found out that the gun in question was a Nerf gun. A Nerf gun fight was going on in the school's church to mark the first day of school.

A church staff member sent a text to her daughter saying one of the foam bullets had hit her office door, and the daughter misunderstood and called police.
