A local business shared a new statement after a Dolly Parton mural was vandalized earlier this week.
The mural, painted by local artist Kim Radford in August 2020, appears at The 5 Spot, a live music venue in East Nashville, Tennessee. An alleged vandal, who was reportedly identified by surveillance footage, defaced the artwork with splatters of black paint. The 5 Spot posted a statement on Instagram in response to the blemished murals of Parton and Todd Snider.
“We know who defaced the Dolly and Todd Snider murals. He’s explained himself,” the statement reads. “It was not done out of hate or anger towards any person, building, lifestyle, or anything. He’s in a bad mental state. The muralist will be back to clean it up. The latex paint might peel off. Thanks for getting in touch with him.”
Radford posted on Instagram on Tuesday (August 4) that she’s “repairing and restoring Dolly on Thursday (August 6)! This mural of Dolly Parton has my heart and made me a Nashville Muralist in 2020. Thank you for the love 💕 STAY TUNED FOR HER GLOW UP ✨”
Parton has not publicly addressed the vandalized East Nashville mural as of publication time on Wednesday (August 5).
