A nine-day livestream led by 23-year-old Polish streamer Piotr Hancke, known online as Łatwogang, raised over $ 68 million for children fighting cancer. The fundraiser, held in Warsaw, began with a goal of 500,000 Polish zlotys (about $137-thousand USD) for the Cancer Fighters Foundation but grew as millions of viewers joined, pushing donations past 250-million zlotys (over $68-million), setting a new livestream fundraising record.
The stream’s duration was determined by TikTok engagement, with each like adding 1 second, resulting in more than a week of continuous broadcasting. During the event, Hancke repeatedly played the song “I’m Still Here,” recorded by Bedoes 2115 and 11-year-old cancer patient Maja Mecan, while celebrities and athletes, including Coldplay’s Chris Martin, joined through donations, videos, and appearances.
At its peak, more than 1.5-million viewers watched simultaneously, with guests shaving their heads in support of children undergoing treatment. The event concluded with cancer patients joining the livestream, and organizers have confirmed that all donations will be publicly accounted for.
