Positive Monday vibes - which I hope you will share! I want to tell you about a very special event that happened this weekend – an unforgettable moment in time for Jillian, a precious special needs child that I have known since the day she was born. She is the daughter of my dear friend, Donna Spafford Letier, who I have known for 30+ years.
Jillian is 20 years old, 15 years older than doctors said she would live. Jillian has severe special needs, both mentally and physically. She walks with a walker (with assistance), has mastered 100+ words and is an extraordinary vision of a can-do spirit. She is blessed and is a blessing. But this is not about Jillian, it is about Nick Waterman, a young man who is a sophomore at the Air Force Academy. Nick was Jillian's peer tutor during his senior year in high school at Highland Park High School, and during the year Jillian fell in love with him. She thinks of him as her best friend and truly loves him. Now, two years later he still finds time to visit her every time he is home for a school holiday. This weekend he flew in to surprise Jillian and take her to the Highland Park senior prom!
We need more good in the world and this upworthy promposal is to show young guys an exemplary example of what a great man is and to show young girls that every single little girl deserves to be treated like a princess. In an age where we hear more about bullying, social media shaming, and less-than-stellar role models, I want to share an inspiring story of love and altruism.
Let's spread the message that honorable acts can also go viral. Please share! #EveryLittleGirl #ACadetsPromposal
