Maddie & Tae’s Taylor Kerr spoke about her pre-term labor experience with her firstborn child as she prepares to welcome Baby No. 2.

Kerr, who celebrated her 29th birthday on Thursday (September 18), welcomed daughter Leighton Grace in January 2022. She and her husband, Josh Kerr, shared at the time that Leighton Grace arrived early and spent 53 days in the NICU before coming home.

"I tried to stay calm, but I lost my mind. That experience completely altered me,” Kerr said when she and duo partner Maddie Font appeared on a recent episode of Get Real with Caroline Hobby (warning: language). “I mean, it was just scary because there was always that question of like, if I did have her today, is she gonna make it? What's going to be wrong with her? Is she going to need forever, you know, assistance to breathe, live, walk? I don't know."

The duo shared with podcast host Caroline Hobby that Leighton Grace is thriving today, and she’ll be a big sister by the end of the year. Kerr and her husband announced in June that Baby No. 2 is on the way. They said when they made their announcement that “baby BOY joining us this fall and we couldn’t be more excited 🥹💙”

Kerr is due to welcome Baby No. 2 in November. Before then, she and Font will remain on their headlining “Here’s To Friends Tour.” Maddie & Tae also released their new 6-track EP, What A Woman Can Do, which includes “Free Like,” “Sad Girl Summer,” “Heart They Didn’t Break” and more. Kerr said balancing her career with motherhood while expecting another baby is the perfect example of what a woman can do.

“There couldn't be a more perfect title for where we are in our lives,” she said. “Like we feel like we are wearing five jillion hats, but like somehow kind of rocking it, you know."
