The city of Cleveland isn't interested in losing another football team.

Mayor Justin Bibb told Browns ownership that the city will invoke the "Modell Law" to block them from moving the team out of Cleveland.

The law was passed back in 1996 after former owner Art Modell moved the franchise to Baltimore and prevents sudden movement of a sports franchise out of the city.

Current owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam have expressed interest in building a new domed stadium in Brook Park, which is about 10 miles south of Cleveland.

The project would cost nearly two-and-a-half billion dollars.

The team's current lease at Huntington Bank Stadium expires in 2028.
