Video Shows Gunshots Fired During Eagles Fans' Celebration

A disturbing video shows gunshots being fired into the air as Philadelphia Eagles fans celebrated their team's NFC Championship Game win and Super Bowl LIX berth Sunday (January 26) night.

The incident reported took place at the intersection of Frankford and Cottman Avenues in Philadelphia, according to X user @Philly_Captain, who shared the video, as a massive crowd of Eagles fans celebrated in the streets.

“I believe that was a gun. That was definitely a gun!” a person is heard saying in the video.

Several bystanders appeared to be confused and looking around after the shots were fired. FOX 29 reporter Steve Keeley confirmed that the Philadelphia Police Department was probing the incident.

It wasn't immediately clear if anyone was injured in relation to the shots being fired, however, three people were reported to be injured during a separate incident in which they were struck by a vehicle leaving the game at around 9:30 p.m. local time. The driver was detained, however, police said the incident didn't appear to be intentional.

The three victims were reported to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. The Eagles clinched a berth in Super Bowl LIX with a 55-23 win in the NFC Championship Game against the NFC East Division rival Washington Commanders.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts and running back Saquon Barkley each scored three rushing touchdowns, which included Barkley breaking a 60-yard run on the Eagles' first play of the game to move ahead 7-3, having never lost the lead for the remainder of the game. The All-Pro running back also scored on a 4-yard run in the first quarter and a 4-yard run in the fourth quarter, finishing with a game-high 118 yards on 15 carries.

Hurts scored on a pair of 'Brotherly Shove' 1-yard goal line runs in the second and fourth quarters, as well as a 9-yard run in the third quarter. The former University of Alabama and University of Oklahoma standout also threw for 246 yards and a touchdown on 20 of 28 passing.

Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown caught Hurts' 4-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter, finishing the game with six receptions for 96 yards. The Eagles return to the Super Bowl for the second time in three years having lost Super Bowl LVII to the Kansas City Chiefs in February 2023.
