Jake Owen marked four years into his sobriety journey on Wednesday (September 17).

The Florida-born country star shared a note on Instagram that reads: “I woke up this morning on west coast time/ Compared to most f my friends and fam I’m 3 hours behind/ Until I saw a text, from a very thoughtful friend/ Reminded me of something, and brought a real big grin/ 4 years ago today, I knew that it was time/ To be a better man, and live a sober life/ Be a better father, be a better friend/ And by the grace of God, I felt like I got to start all over again/ I stuck to the plan, but I’m still working me/ I know who I’ve been, and who I wanna be/ Thank y’all for the kindness, and the high fives along the way/ I hope I can be an inspiration for someone who wants to start today.”

“Love y’all. Here’s to 4 years of the best decision I ever made in my life,” Owen wrote. “For a guy that can be pretty hard on himself, I gotta say I’m proud of me.”

Owen’s four-year mark arrives shortly after he released “Long Time Lovin' You,” a ballad he wrote with Shooter Jennings and Kendell Marvel. It’s the latest track to arrive from his 13-track project, Dreams To Dream, which is set to release on November 7.

“I’ve been doing something special over the last few months that has been an absolute dream for me,” Owen said earlier this year. “I can’t wait to share the journey, the story, and what came of it. I’m really grateful for the people who believe in me and the friends I have. I'm so fired up to share this with you.”
