Josh Ross reflected on the moment Luke Bryan unexpectedly crashed his interview on the red carpet at the 58th CMA Awards in 2024.

Bryan interrupted the conversation to surprise Ross, originally from Ontario, Canada, with the Jeff Walker Global Country Artist Award, which “recognizes outstanding achievements by a Country Music artist who is originally based internationally and currently signed outside of the United States,” according to the Country Music Association.

Ross, 31, reflected on that moment during a two-mile run with Kate Mackz, host of The Running Interview Show and Post Run High. Throughout the conversation, the pair talked about the rising singer-songwriter’s lifelong musical influences, the story behind “Single Again,” when he moved to Nashville, his debut record and more. Ross released his first-ever studio album, Later Tonight, in September. He said when he announced the project that “the title of this record, and the title track, became the thread that tied this project together over the last couple of years. Every single we put out, every show we’ve played has led to this. We dug deep writing for this album, leaning into getting caught in your feelings, breaking up, making up. No matter what, all roads led back to ‘Later Tonight.’”

Ross challenged Bryan to run with Mackz next. Watch his interview with her here:
