The gender reveal party trend isn’t over yet, despite some dangerous results in the past. There was the one that sparked a wildfire in California that burned nearly 23-thousand acres in 2021 and the one that killed two people when the plane used in it crashed in Cancun, and countless others that led to minor injuries and messes. But now another gender reveal party is being blasted online as being “wasteful” and for “killing the planet.”
A video of the event shared by Inga Stumbriene, an influencer from Lithuania, shows her and her husband standing outside in a field in front of a huge display of pink and blue balloons. A trio of airplanes are seen flying in formation overhead, making a loop, not once, but twice, before blue smoke and confetti shoot out, with the mini-explosion revealing the couple is having a baby boy.
The clip has been viewed more than 25 million times so far and not everyone has nice things to say about it. The couple has been slammed for the gender reveal, much to their surprise.
- “The most selfish and wasteful way to do a gender reveal,” comments one critic. “I’m all for unique gender reveals, but this is just plain pompous, arrogant and so over the top … literally.”
- “Thanks for killing the planet,” another writes.
- And a third jokes, “Bro is already leaving CO2 footprint before even getting out of the womb 😂.”
- In response, Inga says, “I’ll be honest, I really didn’t expect this when I planned this beautiful and cozy family celebration that touched so many hearts around the world.”
