Canadian photographer Jasmeet Sidhu captured Taylor Swift during her recent “Eras Tour,” thanks to a bold email she sent years earlier. While still in college studying photography in Ontario, Sidhu reached out to a video producer whose work she admired. This led to an invitation to a music video set featuring Swift, setting the stage for a lasting professional relationship.
Sidhu, the daughter of Malaysian immigrants in Brampton, Ontario, initially aspired to be a doctor but pursued her passion for photography with her parents’ encouragement. The connections she made on that set eventually granted her access to photograph Swift during three of her tours: 1989, Reputation, and Eras. Her career flourished as she captured thousands of photos of the pop star, exposing her work to a massive global audience.
Sidhu recently shared advice for aspiring creatives, stressing the importance of persistence and networking. She claims that building relationships is the key, saying, “Every single action you take in a creative career has to be an opportunity of your own making.” Thankful for her own success, Sidhu now strives to pay it forward, trying to help others just like someone once helped her.
