Last Sunday evening, Amazon delivery driver Naimah Elmore spotted a house fire in Shelby County, Alabama, and helped a woman and her pets escape the blaze. While making deliveries in the neighborhood, she saw smoke in the air and immediately rushed toward the home. Without hesitation, she left her car running and helped the family evacuate.
Elmore says she didn’t think about her own safety at the moment, only that the family needed help. “I’m a servant, so it’s just like, jump into action,” she says, explaining that she felt a calling to assist. “It’s always a message for me from God to say, ‘What are you willing to sacrifice of yourself to help somebody else?’”
After making sure that the family made it out safely, Elmore returned to her deliveries but couldn't stop worrying about the family’s well-being. Once she learned that no one was injured, she felt a sense of relief. Reflecting on the experience, she says she’d do it again in a heartbeat, and she encourages others to do what they can to help when they see people in need.
