An Albuquerque, New Mexico, man is being praised for recently preventing a bank robbery. Last month, Humberto Garcia Rodriguez was sitting in the lobby of a Bank of Montreal in Albuquerque when he witnessed an attempted robbery. Police say a man entered the bank, pushed a woman aside, and pointed his fingers at the teller in a gun-like gesture while demanding cash. According to officials, the suspect had robbed the same bank just a month earlier.
As the would-be robber attempted to flee with around $2,400, Rodriguez sprang into action. Video footage released this week captured him tackling the suspect from behind, sending the stolen money flying. A struggle ensued, but bank employees and customers quickly stepped in to help subdue the suspect until police arrived.
Minutes later, officers took the man into custody. He now faces robbery charges, adding to a prior record of multiple offenses. Thanks to Rodriguez and the other good Samaritans who intervened, the robbery was stopped before anyone was harmed.
