When a Kenyan man, who’s now a U.K. citizen living in Manchester, learned that a new Popeyes restaurant in Manchester was giving away free chicken sandwiches for a year to the first three customers in line, he made a plan to ensure that he was one of them. It’s not just that he likes their chicken sandwiches, but also so he‘ll be able to help feed the local homeless population.
The unnamed man arrived at the restaurant on Thursday morning and learned that it would open the next day, so he came back after work with bedding and his laptop, prepared to wait overnight. He ended up being first in line and waited 17 hours for the restaurant to open, earning him free chicken sandwiches for a year.
The man says that as a citizen, he feels it’s his duty to help others and he plans to share the chicken sandwiches with homeless individuals across the city. Thankful that he can afford a car and food, he does what he can to help when he’s able, saying, “It’s only a small gesture but it’s the least I can do.”
