Lauren Alaina shared a hilarious and heartfelt conversation with her longtime role model and friend, Trisha Yearwood, on the latest episode of LA Lately. Alaina launched the new online series last month with a debut segment to spotlight powerful women in her life.
Alaina, who is pregnant with Baby No. 1, exclaimed as she shared a sneak peek of the LA Lately episode on Instagram: “I can’t wait for [Trisha Yearwood] to hold my baby like a baked potato like she did [Kristin Chenoweth]!”
The “Those Kind Of Women” artist was referring to a point in the conversation that she asked Yearwood, if she could host an all-female dinner party, who would she invite and what would she cook? Yearwood said Alaina “would be the head of the table,” and listed the women on her team, her sister, Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris and Chenoweth, who reminded the “She’s In Love With The Boy” icon of “a hilarious story.”
“She [Chenoweth] was on my show one time and I had bought this — this is a hilarious story, and then I’ll tell you what I’m cooking — I had bought this, off the internet, this ski suit,” Yearwood said. “I don’t ski. I don’t know. I just thought it would be cute to have, and maybe I would go ski if I bought the suit. And it looked like — it was all silver and kind of reflective. …No, (I don’t have a picture of myself in it) because when I got it I bought like an XXL. I don’t know where it came from, but it was about this big, and so is Kristen Chenoweth. She’s about this big. So when she came on my show, I said, ‘would you put this on ?’ And then I carried her in the kitchen like a baked potato. …So I’d probably have to serve baked potatoes.”
Afterward, Alaina noted Yearwood’s career-spanning accomplishments, including her TV shows, her cooking, her music and songwriting. The former American Idol contestant asked, “is there anything that you want to do that you haven’t done?”
“I mean, I kind go take the opportunities as they come along. I didn’t intend on being a food show host, but it just kind of happened, and I enjoy it and I love it,” Yearwood said, and hilariously added: “But I do wanna say, I grew up on a farm and we had cows and I have been at many birthings. So, if you should go into labor during this little situation, I got you. I’m pretty much just a pitch and catch girl, so I don’t know if I can really get in there and do anything. But I mean, I’m there for you.”
“Can you imagine if you birthed my child? Honest to God, let’s make it happen,” Alaina said as she burst out laughing.
Yearwood jokingly said she’d tell Alaina’s husband, “Cameron, I’m sorry, but I’m gonna need to be in the delivery room. I got this.”
Alaina joked that Yearwood, who has birthed cows, would react: “It’s not mooing! I don’t know what’s happening!”
Yearwood told Alaina, “you should probably have a doctor,” as the pair continued to laugh together.
Alaina announced her pregnancy earlier this year with her full circle music video for “Those Kind Of Women.” Other country artists welcoming a baby into the family this year include Cole Swindell, Lady A’s Hillary Scott, Lady A’s Charles Kelley, Sam Hunt and more.
